October 2012 Ontario Food Events

Here’s the round up forOctober food events in Ontario (outside of Toronto).  So many events were wine and food combined that we combined the two sections for easier browsing. Check back often as we will update as we become aware of new events.  If you have others, please feel free to submit them to us.

Elora Culinary Walking Tour,  Saturdays in October. 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. The Village Olive Grove, Elora. Walking tour with samples specially created dished at various locally owned and operated restaurants and shops while getting a bit of a history lesson. olivegrove@wightman.ca to reserve a spot.

Foraging for Wild Edible Plants and Mushrooms, weekends in October. The Avon and Thames River Trails, Stratford. Learn to identify and harvest such plants as wild ginger, watercress and may apples, as well as dozens of different edible mushrooms. 519-271-3726. pucksplenty.com

Farmalicious, Until Thanksgiving. Guelph/Wellington County. Farmalicious is a regional dine-around that invites you to our local table. Harvest Party, Oct. 6. 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The Good Earth Food and Wine Co., Beamsville. $40. Clovermead Pumpkin Festival, Oct. 6. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Clovermead Bees and Honey, Aylmer. $10. pumpkin seed spitting contest, apple sling shot, a pumpkin cannon show, tractor wagon rides, animals, straw bale fort, and huge jumping pillow. Pumpkin Festival.

Death Row Meals, Niagara Edition, Oct. 20. Vineland Estates Winery and Rosewood Estates Winery. $125. enjoy all of the producers and chefs featured, in a 5 hour culinary journey. One group will start at Vineland Estates Winery, and the other at Rosewood Estates Winery. Transportation from Toronto will be included (pick up location to be determined). Death Row Meals.
