Christmas in the Rockies, 1 Dec 2012, Banff National Park, AB. Celebrate the holiday season in Banff National Park during Christmas In The Rockies! Parade of Lights, 1 Dec 2012, 7 PM onwards, Rocky Mountain House. Bring your family down to main street or anywhere on the parade route the first Saturday night of December for a wondrous show of floats, trucks, quads entered by numerous businesses throughout town, all decorated in Christmas lights. A wonderful way to get in the Christmas mood with Christmas music, treats for kids and hot chocolate being sold along the street.
Old Fashioned Christmas, 9 Dec 2012, Grande Prairie, AB. Stroll through the Heritage Village adorned in lights to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas past! Special features include a “Watch for Father Christmas” over the Ham Radio as he travels on his sleigh to the Grande Prairie Museum for free photos c/o Snapshot Studio & Photo. Witness the GPRC Players performance, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” or listen to cultural musicians and strolling carollers. Sample gingerbread cookie decorating, roast chestnuts over an open fire or ride in a horse drawn cutter sleigh.
Cold Lake Winter Carnival, 15 – 16 Dec 2012, Cold Lake, AB. Jumping Jack is coming to Cold Lake for a winter carnival. there will be 10 inflatable rides, carnival games, airbrush tattoos, popcorn, cotton candy, vendors and so much more. New Year’s Eve Downtown, 31 Dec 2012, Edmonton, AB. Bring in the New Year at Western Canada’s largest free New Year’s celebration. This family event features both indoor and outdoor venues offering activities and entertainment for all ages. Midnight Show 12 Minute pyrotechnic and fireworks display on 103 A Avenue between 100 Street and 99 Street.
