Second annual YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, 1ST February 2013, Calgary. Welcome to the 2013 YYC Hot Chocolate Fest. During the month of February, participating Calgary coffee shops, restaurants, chocolatiers, and hotels invite you to try their Signature Hot Chocolates in support of Calgary Meals on Wheels. Ice on Whyte Festival, Jan 25th – Feb 3rd, 2013, End of Steel Park, Edmonton, AB. Visit the 10th anniversary festival to enjoy the amazing ice carvings created by artists in the international ice carving competition. Come outside to play in a park filled with ice slides, stunning snow carvings, an interactive children’s play area, family ice skating and so much more. The YESS cafe will be serving up hot beverages in the heated tent. Live music and storytelling will warm the tent too. http://www.iceonwhyte.ca/

Snow Days, Bonfire and Snowshoeing, Jan 26th – Feb 10th 2013, Lake Louise, AB. Head over to The Mountaineer Lodge and strap on a pair of snowshoes courtesy of Wilson Mountain Sports. From noon to 5 p.m. on Jan 26, a trail through the trees will be set up to give you a taste of the winter sport. There will also be a bonfire, hot drinks and snacks. Romance N Roses, Feb 15th 2013, 6 PM onwards, Rocky Mountain House. The Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter is pleased to host the 7th Annual Romance n’ Roses Dinner and Auction at the Lou Soppit Community Centre. Doors open at 6pm. Dinner at 7pm. Winefest Edmonton, Feb 15th – Feb 16th 2013, Shaw Conference Centre, Edmonton. Swirl, sip and savour at this wonderland of wine! Taking it to the Heart Culinary Fundraiser, 25th February 2013, 6 – 9 PM, The Edmonton Petroleum Club, Edmonton. Tickets: $75/ person.
The event is to raise awareness of heart disease in women and is a fabulous evening featuring all women Chefs including, new to the Petroleum Club, Chef Doreen Prei formerly of Zinc, Christine Sandford from Culina, Danielle Majeau from Creole Envie, Heather Dosman from Canteen and Three Boars and Tracy Zizek from Cafe de Ville. Potash Corp WinterShines Festival 2013, Jan 26, 2013 – Feb 10, 2013, Saskatoon Farmer’s Market at River Landing, PotashCorp WinterShines features an Ice Park, the winter playground, an international ice carving competition, the Warm the Heart Soup Cook Off, and so much more. Manitoba Food Festivals & Events

Le Festival du Voyageur, Feb 15th – Feb 24th 2013, Winnipeg, MB. Tickets: Adult (18 years old and over) – $25, Youth (13 to 17) -  $15, Child (6 to 12) -  $10, 5 and under – FREE. Western Canada’s largest winter festival celebrates Canada’s fur trading era and combines the joie de vivre of the voyageurs with more than 300 music performances, magnificent snow sculptures, historical interpretation of the early 19th century at Fort Gibraltar, live entertainment, traditional dishes, arts and crafts, the voyageur International Sled Dog Classic, a governor’s ball. http://festivalvoyageur.mb.ca/

Trapper’s Festival, Third Weekend in February, The Pas, MB. Oldest winter festival–originating in 1916– celebrates the cultural heritage of the northern pioneer with skills and entertainment; World
