The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook Giveaway

The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook by David Ort

FBC Member and Featured Blogger David Ort recently published The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook (Whitecap Books).  With thanks to David and Whitecap, we’re excited to be able to give away one copy to a lucky Canadian.

After years of writing and developing recipes for his site, foodwithlegs.com, and for the popular online magazine Spotlight Toronto, David has finally compiled his knowledge of the subject into his new book The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook.  In his book, David explains the difference between craft beer and “regular” beer, provides some theory behind the practice of pairing beer with foods, and includes a rundown of the ingredients that make up a perfect brew. The book also includes over 75 recipes for salads, soups, mains, desserts, and beer cocktails (including beer pairings, of course!).

The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook includes recipes for old favourites as well as new surprises,
such as:
• Beer Fondue
• Witbier Onion Rings
• Currywurst
• Stout Braised Lamb Shanks
• Brownies with Spiced Ale Chocolate Sauce
• Butter Beer

We have one (1) copy of The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook to give away. To enter, you must be a Canadian resident and you must leave a comment below telling us which of the recipes listed above you would like to try in your kitchen.

For a second entry you can tweet “I just entered to win a copy of The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook on @foodbloggersca: bit.ly/1j6oobU”. Come back here and leave a second comment letting us know you tweeted.

The contest closes Friday January 24th at 9pm pacific time.  We will announce the winner in the January 27th Weekly News.

If you want to learn more about David, you can read our blogger profile on him!

Good luck!

..Don’t you mean beer FUN-DO?? Fondue is nothing, if not not fun. Especially when there’s beer involved. Though the Stout Braised Lamb Shanks are tugging at my heart strings too. Maybe Stout Braised Lamb Shanks dipped in beer fondue…? Yes. Yes, that is my answer.

PS. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! Happy Friday!

Though I might have to make a few beer modifications, this sounds fantastic! It would be hard to choose between the Onion Rings and the Brownies… but together, they sound like the perfect dinner.

  4. Nicole January 17, 2014 at 9:17 am #

Oh those onion rings sounds delicious! I would love to try them out.

I’m all about desserts so I would LOVE to try: Brownies with Spiced Ale Chocolate Sauce

Looks like a great book! Might have to consider adding this to my (vastly growing) collection.

Beer Fondue is at the top of my list. What a shame it would be if I had to test out this recipe with homemade beer pretzels or the like for dipping — and wash it down with a pint. Or two.

    Cheers!

I would love to try the beer fondue and the brownies. I’ve been eyeing up this cookbook for sometime. My boyfriend loves craft beer, so I’m sure I’d have some good options to use in the recipes :-)

I have never made Risotto with beer before…with wine many times, but never beer! Looks like the Bacon, Apple & Red Cabbage Risotto recipe is a dinner party-worthy recipe. In fact, I win this cookbook, I will plan a dinner party with each course is from this cookbook shining the spotlight on Canadian craft beer!
