I forgot how much I love barley soup and this risotto I used to make! This fall & winter I’m so getting the barley on!

I’m a wee bit late to the party, but I’m raring to learn new recipes and cooking tips.

Too late to the party I guess. Never knew barley came from Canada! I did find out last summer that the Japanese use it to make tea! It’s called Mugicha (cha=tea) and you can read about it here http://www.justhungry.com/mugicha-barley-tea-flavor-summer
I’ve had it as I had a Japanese patient one time and she was moving, so when she learned that I was a tea fanatic (I love coffees too) , she made it for me and gave me a whole bag of tea bags. But you can make it from loose grains too, and the web site above will tell you how. It’s a nice different taste, and good iced! I use stevia in all my coffee and tea rather than artificial sweetener, or raw honey.
