As part of FBC's 5th anniversary we're sharing a special 24-day Holiday Countdown from December 1st to the 24th. We're going back in time to reconnect with some very special FBC Members. These Canadian food bloggers were among the very first FBCers to be showcased in our Friday Featured Blogger series that still runs today (we've featured almost 250 bloggers in five years!).
Where are they now? And how do they celebrate the holidays? Today we kick it off by visiting with Heather Nolan of Mmm ... is for Mommy (you can read our original feature with Heather here from August 17, 2012).
Name: Heather Nolan
Blog Name: Mmm… is for Mommy
How has your blog evolved over the past five years?
When I started my blog, it was purely recipes. I really had no idea what a blog "could be." Because of the "Mommy" in the title, I was put into the "Mommy Blog" category by many and actually ended up going that route for a bit. As we travelled more, the blog started containing more Family Travel content. These days, I actually follow a low-carb/ketogenic lifestyle and that has really thrown a wrench into my recipe blogging … time will tell what the future will bring!
What’s your favourite holiday tradition?
I simply love just sitting around the Christmas tree with a hot cup of something.
Share a favourite holiday recipe with our readers
One of the recipes I’ll miss most (unless I can convert it to low carb … no wait, I don’ t think I can for this one), is my Cream Cheese Gumdrop Cake.
What are the must-have staples in your holiday pantry?
- Icing sugar
- Crackers (for cheese plates)
- Egg Nog
- Macadamia Nuts
