FBC-Cook-for-the-CureWe Can All Make a Difference

When Food Bloggers of Canada (FBC) was first formed, we wanted FBC to make a difference in the lives of Canadian food bloggers. It was to be a friendly place that people could learn, grow and meet one another. But now, with 1200 members and growing, we have the chance together to make a difference in the lives of others. Canadian food bloggers can make a difference!

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, FBC is excited and proud to sponsor KitchenAid Canada's Cook For The Cure Program. Since 2002, over $2.3 million has been raised through the KitchenAid's Cook for the Cure programs including $75 donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CFCF) for every KitchenAid Raspberry Ice Stand Mixer sold.

As you can see, we have turned the FBC site a special colour. It's not pink, but it's the classic KitchenAid Raspberry Ice in honour of the campaign. You too can show support on your blog and inform your readers of your fundraising efforts with the FBC Cook For the Cure Badge. If you need assistance putting the badge on your site, please refer to this tutorial.

Everyone involved with Cook for the Cure Culinary Challenge wants you to succeed and have a chance to meet and/or cook with your culinary hero, so they've provided tips to help you get started with your fundraising efforts.

Your blog and social media channels are a great place to start and letting your readers know about your fundraising efforts. Once you register and provide the link on your blog, it's easy for them to donate. The old-fashioned way of fundraising still works as well in the form of a bake sale, having a potluck or inviting everyone over for an evening of Food Network and contributing a few dollars that way. Every dollar counts and it can add up pretty quickly!

We will be updating the page with more tips and sharing success stories of how FBC members are doing so we can all benefit, so stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, just remember, as bloggers we have the power, the voice and the platform to be heard and make a difference!

We'll leave the final words of inspiration to Chef Tyler Florence...
