Trent Hills Culinary Experience
Join us for this one-of-a-kind culinary experience in Warkworth, ON nestled in the municipality of Trent Hills on September 20th.
Head out of Toronto (1.5 hours away) for a day of hands-on culinary fun in the picturesque small town of Warkworth where 'eat local' takes on a whole new meaning.
You'll start your day at the Warkworth Town Hall Centre of the Arts with sweet treats and coffee to power you through the day. And then it'll be right on to a hands-on food photography workshop and preserving demo with Dennis Prescott and Joel MacCharles followed by a delicious and locally prepared lunch.
Then get ready to paint the town! Well maybe not literally but next up you'll be heading out into Warkworth to meet some of the local food artisans and growers. You'll get to hand-paint your own chocolate bars at Centre + Main Chocolate, help make butter tarts at The Bakery - Warkworth and forage with Nikki aka Green Moxie. Oh and did we mention, you'll be heading home with three of your very own hand-painted chocolate bars, 1/2 dozen butter tarts to enjoy at home and your very own tea blend (you can share if you want).
We'll follow that up with a Cocktail Hour hosted by WellPreserved which will also provide the opportunity to wander Main Street and check out some of the other amazing local shops in Warkworth. And to wrap the day, the talented and champion of all things local Chef Douglas Hope of Sper Food & Farm will be cooking dinner for us along with some local producers that you'll get to meet one-on-one!
You'll head home full and happy with new friends, new experiences to write about and share and, of course, some food.
This workshop is also the fifth stop on the three week long 2018 FBC Great Canadian Road Trip. Check out the Road Trip itinerary for more fun stops throughout Canada!

After our full day of making, Joe and Dana will be hosting our pre-dinner Cocktail Hour with some special cocktail recipes just for you!

The food photography workshop will be done with the entire group at once.

Chocolate Painting Workshop
Ever marvelled over hand painted chocolates when you visit your local chocolatier? They look like works of art!
During this one hour, hands on workshop at Centre + Main Chocolate Co. you'll learn how to paint your own chocolate bars and then get to take them home and show off (if they make it that far!).
Owner Angela will introduce you to their small batch production of chocolates and bars with boldly flavoured with some of your favourite add-ins and some surprising new ones. And then you'll get to work creating your own masterpieces!

Butter Tart Workshop
What makes a perfect butter tart? Is it raisins? No raisins? Nut? No Nuts? Or just a straight-up maple syrupy inside with nothing added? We'll probably never come to a national consensus on perfect butter tart filling but we'll sure enjoy arguing about it!
The Bakery - Warkworth prides themselves on sourcing as many of their quality ingredients from no more than 50km away and they're going to run you through your butter tart making paces as they help you assemble a trio of perfect tarts that will be baked up and made ready for you to take home before the end of the day (again, providing you don't eat them first!).
It's your choice if you want to argue with fellow attendees about which filling is the right one!
