Welcome to the first December issue of the news and it is a monster edition this week.  We have so many exciting things to tell you.

Over the last month we’ve been running a contest in conjunction with one of our gold sponsors, Manitoba Canola Growers, showcasing members’ best cookie recipes using canola oil! The prize?  Two all expense paid trips to FBC 2013 at Hockley Valley in Ontario – one for a lucky Manitoba blogger and one open to anyone else in the country.  We are so excited to announce the winners today!

Start From Scratch January Intake Open Now

Start From Scratch, the non-profit program that teaches new university students how to cook healthy meals from Scratch in Alberta and Saskatchewan, has just opened up it’s application process for their winter session.  Students must attend either the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University or University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.  If you are, or know of, a student who might benefit from this fun program, head on over to Start From Scratch for more details.  Applications are accepted until January 15, 2013.

Holiday Recipe Roundup – Deadline This Friday!

Our Halloween recipe was so much fun and got so much love that we’re going to do a Holiday Recipe Roundup in December.  Send us a link to your favourite holiday recipe from your blog, along with a photo (620px wide) by December 7th, and we’ll do a special roundup post on December 12th.  You can send your entries to info[at]foodbloggersofcanada[dot]com.  We can’t wait to see what you send in!

Calgary Food Blogger Bake Sale (AB)

The Calgary Food Bloggers Bake Sale Holiday Edition happening this weekend on December 8th at Casel Marché.  Proceeds will be going to Calgary Meals on Wheels.  Stacks of outstanding Alberta FBC Members will be participating (we can’t even list them all here there’s so many!) so be sure to check out their Facebook event pagefor the complete list of bloggers and, if you’re in the Calgary area get out and support them and get some yummy treats!  I’ve seen lots of twitter chatter about it and it sounds like a great time will be had for a worthy cause

If you’re an Alberta blogger and want to get involved in the event, you can contact event organizer Vincci from Ceci n’est pas un food blog or Dan at Dan’s Good Side and they’ll get you set up!
