Name: Tara Noland

Blog name and URL: Noshing With The Nolands http://noshingwiththenolands.com/

Where were you born? Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Where are you living now? Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Why did you start your blog? I started the blog because of a lifelong love of cooking and an avenue to introduce my cookbooks that I am working on. I have also always been interested in writing, so this is just perfect for me.

How did you decide on your blog name? We all love to cook and entertain. It is a family affair.

What do you blog about? Cooking, crafts and seasonal ideas are the main part of the blog but I also like to do restaurant, product and cookbook reviews or whatever strikes my fancy. That’s the beauty of it, pure freedom.

What post are you most proud of and why? If I had to pick it would be a Julia Child recipe, doing the 15 week celebration that lead up what would have been her 100th birthday back on August 15, was a thrill for me. To have been included on the day of her birthday front and center on JC100 Facebook page, I couldn’t have been more proud. I have been a huge fan all my life and I so do love her Boeuf Bourguignon recipe which I will be making this holiday season.

Which post do you wish received more love and why? Raspberry Pecan Nasturtium Spinach Salad, I thought it was such a pretty picture and a unique salad idea. Maybe it was too out there for the average person.

Which post’s success surprised you and why? Mozzarella Cheese Sticks because it was way back in May that I did the post and I had only been taking pictures for a month with my DSLR camera. I have had so many people view that post and even today on a daily basis. I have people try the recipe and love it and we still make it for company. It shouldn’t surprise me though as they are incredibly yummy.

What is one (non-kitchen) gadget you can’t live without? My computer, I am on it all the time if I am not in the kitchen. I love communicating with other bloggers. I have never been in such a warm, caring, helpful and friendly environment.

What is one kitchen gadget you can’t live without? My Standup Kitchen Aid Mixer, I love it and use it all the time!!

Favourite food, care to share a recipe? That is almost impossible as variety is the spice of life for me. We have some recipes we like to do again and again but trying new things and creating is what is so much fun in the kitchen. If I had to pick it may be soups. I love creating new soups and have many on my site. They are so satisfying as a meal. I find making soup is very rewarding, with little effort you can create a wonderful soup your family will love. Our daughter loves homemade soup, it is one of her favorites. Here is an example of a lovely Seafood Chowder.

What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page? I had never even looked at a blog before starting mine. Never held a good quality camera or had any interest in photography before I started this. I have new found love (my husband might say addiction) for both my blog and learning to improve my photography skills.

What makes your blog unique? I think our blog it unique because it encompasses a lot of different things from the occasional craft, to a huge variety of meals, desserts, cocktails from challenging to super easy. I like to incorporate vegetarian meals and have even done some vegan. There is something for everyone to enjoy all brought to you on a daily basis. I have had a new post every single day since I started.

What a pleasure to learn more about you, Tara! Thanks for the great questions, too, Food Bloggers of Canada! The food blogging community is definitely a special, supportive place and interviews such as this one explain (very well) “why” foodie folks do what they do.
