Each month we profile a different Canadian Food Blogger who is part of the FBC community. This month, we meet Shannon, a passionate food lover who enjoys sharing mouthwatering photos of her beautifully crafted dishes.
Name: Shannon McQuaid
Blog name: Savour by Shannon
Where were you born? Kensington, PEI
Where are you living now? Cornwall, PEI
Why did you start your blog?
I would always post my food photos, and someone suggested I should begin a dedicated page. It began solely to show what I made and ate.
How did you decide on your blog name? Process of elimination lol. Also I’m a big believer in savouring the food you eat, and not stressing about it.
What do you blog about? I began posting food photos, but it has evolved into food styling jobs, content creation and lifestyle content.
Is your blog your business, your hobby or something in between?
My business now but I post what I enjoy posting, I consider it my resume for when I get paid gigs.
What post on your blog most encapsulates you and why?

Although I don’t feel comfortable showing my kids online, I do post without their faces. My kids encapsulate me right now, and a big part of my content is sharing my mom life.
Which post do you wish received more love and why?

The food reels without me in them because it is so much more work to get camera ready 🙃
Which post’s success surprised you and why?

My dill pickle series, although I shouldn’t have been surprised.
What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?
Finding creative things to post, and to post regularly.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a blogger?
Not to worry about what others think.
What has been your biggest success as a blogger so far?
Connecting with like minded creators and working with amazing brands.
Share a couple of your favourite food blogs to read.
I love following hello Fran Allen, she is just so real and her food is so beautiful.
What are you working on next for your blog?
I have some paid partnerships to post, but otherwise I tend not to plan too much, I just post what I’m making (if I can film it).
What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?
I don’t promote it but I’m a registered dietitian by trade!
What makes your blog unique?
I think it’s unique because I post about my life and the things that I like.
How do you cultivate a sense of community around your blog?
I think being authentic and transparent keeps my community engaged.
What part of the FBC site do you find most useful?
Seeing the featured foodies and discovering like minded accounts!
