We could all stand to eat more fruits and veggies on a daily basis which is why we've teamed up with Half Your Plate, a new initiative to get Canadians incorporating more fruits and veg into their diets. And it doesn't have to be that hard - simply fill half your plate with veggie and fruit goodness at every meal or snack!
Half Your Plate Goes In Season
Would you like to share recipes or information with consumers? From June-November, Half Your Plate will be launching Half Your Plate in season – recipes, tips, and blog posts focused on produce that’s in season in Canada. Here are the fruit and veggies we’ll be focusing on:
- June – Cherries and Cucumbers
- July – Raspberries and Beets
- August – Peaches and Zucchini
- September – Blueberries and Tomatoes
- October – Apples and Butternut Squash
- November – Cranberries and Cabbage

May's Favourite Vegetable - Asparagus!
Asparagus is a sure sign of spring in Canada. You can find locally grown asparagus in your farmer's market or grocery store from April through June and it's the perfect time to make the most of this easy to prepare vegetable.
It's a great source of Vitamin K, folacin and iron with only 18 calories for 6 spears! You're probably most familiar with green asparagus but you can also find white and purple varieties which can make for a very colourful dish.
