We're excited to announce that five FBC members and amazing restaurant food bloggers have been invited to Montreal on a press trip organized by Tourisme Montreal in partnership with Food Bloggers of Canada! The occasion is TASTE MTL, a chance to celebrate the beauty and culinary genius that is Montreal! Follow the hashtags #TASTEMTL and #MTLmoments to share their gourmet discoveries and favourite experiences!
TASTE MTL goes bigger and better for its second edition with more then 125 participating restaurants and 11 days of culinary festivities! From November 1 to 11, 2013, locals and visitors alike will have a lot on their plate, as restaurants invite epicureans to indulge their taste buds at unbeatable prices.
A Tourisme Montréal initiative, presented by the Produits d’érable du Québec, in collaboration with the SAQ, the second edition of Montréal Restaurant Week promises to be thrilling! More than 125 restaurants across the city will feature tantalizing table-d’hôte menus: $19, $29 and $39 and a $19 late-night menu. From cozy neighbourhood bistros to chic restaurants to trendy eateries, TASTE MTL is a delicious invitation to come celebrate the best of Montréal’s gastronomy.
Montréal’s friendliness and wealth of culinary tradition has made it an exciting gourmet destination with a world-class reputation. TASTE MTL, moreover, shines the spotlight on the variety and originality that characterize Montréal cuisine. The event was recently recognized by Fodor’s as one of North America’s Best 15 Food Festivals. In other words, a combination of rustic and refined, that focuses on the abundance of local products and its chefs’ boundless creativity.
This year, La Fédération des producteurs acéricoles du Québec joins the event and challenges our chefs to come up with the most creative way to incorporate maple products into their recipes—and not just in desserts! Diners can look forward to pleasant surprises and unexpected pairings on the menus of participating restaurants, which will no doubt spark ideas for recipes to try at home.
Walking, Eating, Drinking and Photo-Taking
One of the best ways to taste Montreal is via one of the four culinary tours on hand during the TASTE MTL event. Led by the experienced guides of VDM Global Culinary Tours, these walks are designed along the lines of a wandering 5 à 7 (or happy hour). Accompanied by a foodie guide and his/her appetizing anecdotes, you’ll learn more about the city’s different neighbourhoods and can take advantage of an ultra-friendly happy hour formula.
The tours will take you through some of the most charming and beautiful parts of the city:
• Stroll in Old Montréal
• Cocktails between the Red Light District and the core of Montréal
• Happy hour in Mile End
• Happy hour in Saint-Henri’s underground neighbourhood
Add more to your TASTE MTL experience with exciting gourmet activities including food and wine tastings, luminous evenings and memorable events :
