We hope you all had a great May long weekend - it always seems like the unofficial kick off to summer.  Now it's time to get back at it until the "real" kick off to summer with the July long weekend!

Members Only Opportunities

First up, we have an exciting announcement to make - something we've been working on in the background for a little while now.  We are launching a new part of the site - Member Opportunities.  We're thrilled by the response to FBC and we've wanted to do something for a while now that would give all of our members a few "extras".

The Member Opportunities section will offer up workshops, writing opportunities, product sampling opportunities, and even potential discounts and job opportunities.  Many of these opportunities will be exclusive to members.

This is a Members Only part of the site.  While anybody can visit the Member Opportunities page, you must be a registered member and logged in to the site to read the postings in their entirety.  We are so excited to be able to bring you a few extra goodies as a thank you for supporting our community and we hope to add opportunities on a regular basis.  We hope you enjoy!

Food Photography Workshop - Vancouver Area

One of the first opportunities we're introducing for our Members is a Food Photography Workshop for food bloggers in the Vancouver area in June.  We're thrilled to be offering you the opportunity for a morning workshop with professional food photographer (and FBC member!), Jackie Connelly.

I took my first food photography workshop with Jackie and I promise you, you will learn a lot and have a lot of fun at the same time.  You can read all of the details here (please make sure you are logged in first!).  FBC Members will receive a special rate if they register before June 9th.

This is our first adventure in hosting a workshop and if all goes well, we will definitely be looking at rolling out others across the country!

Kitchen Disasters and Fixes App

Charmian Christie from Christie's Corner is launching her own kitchen app, Kitchen Disasters and Fixes.  For $2.99, it's loaded with quick fixes and creative solutions for common cooking problems like salty soup, burned cookies or a dried out roast!

Win a Three Day Pass to Eat Vancouver

Also, just for our members, we're excited to be offering up a 3 day pass to Eat Vancouver, taking place at BC Place from June 1-3.  This is the 10th anniversary for Eat Vancouver and they will have Bob Blumer, David Rocco, Rob Feenie and Annabelle Waugh on hand to help them celebrate.

Events include Bite of Vancouver Restaurants Pavilion, where local restaurant chefs will be serving up tasty samples of their restaurant menus, The Wine, Beer and Spirits Tasting Pavilion, The Western Canadian Barista Championships, The World Culinary Tourism Expo, and much more!

To enter, you must be an FBC member, be in the Vancouver area during the event, and leave a comment on this post (you must be logged in to access it) before 11:59pm pacific time on Thursday telling us what you're most looking forward to seeing at Eat Vancouver this year.  That's it!  We'll do a random draw from the comments on Friday morning.
