Why did you start your blog?
When I was on my journey to losing weight I discovered lots of new foods I had never tried before like lentils and ways to make healthy eating easy without sacrificing flavor. After I lost 30lbs I wanted to show people that eating healthy can be fun and full of flavor. I created my blog to inspire people to get into the kitchen more and make real food real fun!
How did you decide on your blog name?
It was simply a combination of all of the things I love to do and spoke to my food philosophy and how I’d like to empower my readers:

PLAY & experiment with your food choices & flavours to keep things interesting
What do you blog about?
I blog about the benefits of a mostly plant-based lifestyle and how to take your favourite comfort foods and turn them into to healthier choices. For example, I have a huge sweet tooth, as do a lot of people, so I developed a Double Chocolate Avocado cookie recipe so that you could still enjoy cookies with nourishing ingredients and with less guilt.
Is your blog your business, your hobby or something in between?
Definitely something in between. I offer digital products as well.
What post on your blog most encapsulates you and why?
I would say my Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, & Lentil Soup post. It’s one of the first posts that I created for my blog so the photo is horrendous but it’s one of my most popular posts! This recipe was when I started to experiment with healthier eating and made me realize the power of whole foods. The first time I had this soup was when it hit home that comforting foods like sweet potatoes and lentils could be nourishing and indulgent while absolutely delicious!
Which post do you wish received more love and why?
I would say Creamy Zucchini Tahini Bisque. It’s the peeerfect example of making healthy food indulgent. The coconut milk and tahini give it nice velvety, creamy texture. Tahini is one of those ingredients that tastes great and is also good for you. It’s high in protein, calcium and vitamins and is a great way to make dressings and soups creamy without dairy.
Which post’s success surprised you and why?
The Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, & Lentil Soup post! The photo looks like it was shot by a 3 year old but yet has been the most popular!
What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?
Coming up with content that inspires people and motivates them into action.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a blogger?
Don’t compare yourself to others! Every blogger travels a different road and you can’t compare your chapter 1 to someone’s chapter 18.

Favourite food - care to share a recipe or a restaurant destination?
Mexican! I love Mexican food because it’s so fresh, vibrant, fun to eat and packed with flavor! Since I don’t eat red meat I developed Cilantro Lime Fish Tacos instead for taco night!
What are you working on next for your blog?
My ideas are constantly evolving but I’m working on really trying to define who my target audience is and listen to them so that I can create more value and content that’s of interest to them.
What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?
I have a level 1 sommelier certification! I was completely fascinated with how wine is made so I decided to study it. Although I’m a culinary nutritionist now, I still enjoy a glass of wine occasionally.
What makes your blog unique?
I like to help people celebrate their favourite foods in a healthier way and don’t believe in completely depriving yourself. The occasional glass of wine or piece of cake isn’t going to kill you! I also want people to see that healthy eating doesn’t have to be pretentious or boring. I’d like to think that my blog posts and the tone of my writing helps people to see that.
What part of the FBC site do you find most useful?
It’s hard to choose just one! I would say Blogging 101. So many great tips and resources to grow your blog. I can’t possible express how much I appreciate FBC and the support they give to Food Bloggers and constantly challenging us to dream and create bigger.
