Name: Sam
Blog Name: It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken
Where were you born? Toronto
Where are you living now? Toronto! (But I spent time living in Montreal and then LA before moving home again)
Why did you start your blog?
I wanted to prove to the world, that vegan food isn’t as weird as it sounds, it’s just food! Delicious, scrumptious, drool-worthy, healthy, get in my belly type food.
How did you decide on your blog name?
I wanted to share my sense of humour and give you a tease of what my blog is about. I love when I tell people my blog name and they laugh.
What do you blog about?
Vegan recipes and other fun tidbits!
What post on your blog most encapsulates you?

This brand spanking new recipe for Loaded Vegan Nachos is so me. Just good comfort food that you might not expect can be so easily veganized. My homemade nacho cheese recipe only takes 15 minutes to make, is cholesterol and fat free, and even omnivores love it! Also, there is a goofy surprise at the end of the post 😉
Which post do you wish received more love and why?

My post for 10 Vegan Dessert Smoothies (that are secretly healthy). I have a smoothie almost everyday for breakfast, and your smoothie doesn’t have to be green to be good for you. There are so many amazing fruits that provide an abundance of nutrition while tasting like candy!
Which post’s success surprised you and why?

My Cucumber Avocado Rolls! This recipe was actually an accident, I was doing something else with avocado and when it wasn’t working, I just took my mixture and spread it on slices of cucumber, then snapped a little pic with my iPhone! Little did I know that it would get pinned over 300 thousand times!!
What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?
To make a living! I quit my office job as an art director so that I could blog full time. It’s one of the best and scariest decisions I ever made! You can read more about my decisions here if you are interested: So I Quit My Job and Went To Mexico
Share a couple of your favourite food blogs to read. Why do you like them?
Pinch of Yum - they share their monthly income reports, and are actually the nicest people ever. It’s pretty inspiring to see that someone can do so well following their dream.
Minimalist Baker - an awesome vegan blog that makes me drool every time I look at their recipes.
Healthy Happy Life - another awesome vegan blog and Kathy is the nicest and cutes vegan I have ever seen!
Favourite food - care to share a recipe or a restaurant destination?

If I am feeling lazy, my favourite is to get delivery vegan thai. The ultimate comfort food in my opinion!
If I am feeling less lazy a recipe that I make all the time is my Tofu Bolognese. I could eat this almost everyday and still love it!
Notice the noodle theme here? Yep, noodle obsessed.
What are you working on next for your blog?
Secrets! So many secrets! Muhahaha!!!
What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?
I am not a writer and I don’t like taking pictures of myself! Ha! True story. If you had told me three years ago that I would be vegan, and be a full time writer, I would have laughed in your face and called you cray cray. It’s amazing how quickly things can change!
What makes your blog unique?
The focus of my food is simplicity and deliciousness. I don’t use fancy shmancy or difficult to find ingredients, it’s all about easy, scrumptious, recipes that just so happen to be vegan.
What part of the FBC site do you find most useful?
I love the opportunities. Even the opportunities that I don’t get, often inspire new recipes and ideas.

Cucumber avocado rolls – what a great replacement for that healthier sushi option. Really digging your recipes and presentation style. 🙂
