Name: Eve Martel

Blog name: Tellement Swell

Where were you born? Québec City

Where are you living now? Montréal

Why did you start your blog?

I’ve had many blogs since 2005. This one is the fusion of everything I built under one roof.

How did you decide on your blog name?

Tellement Swell means “so swell”. I wanted something fun that evoked the idea of nice moments and lovely things.

What do you blog about?

I have a lifestyle blog that focuses on everything that makes life fun and delicious. I blog about restaurants, new grocery products, food issues, travel, beauty, and much more.

What post on your blog most encapsulates you?

Any of my “seasonal to-do list”. Each quarter, I publish one and fill it with things to do, to learn, to taste, and to see. It’s always a good representation of what I am interested in and who I am as a person.  Here is my winter 2015 projects post.

Which post do you wish received more love and why?

This post about my experience fostering kittens for Refuge A.M.R. could need even more love! It did well, but it’s such a good cause that I want to give it as much exposure as possible.

Which post’s success surprised you and why?

This post about Montreal’s best izakayas went viral locally for a few days. Montrealers love a good gyoza, I guess!

What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?

Finding time to write more detailed posts or opinion pieces, It’s easy to write a product review, but the more personal posts need quality time, and I do have a full time job already!

Share a couple of your favourite food blogs to read. Why do you like them?

Will Travel For Food - Written by Mayssam Samaha, one of my best friends, this blog always takes me on a delicious journey and has lovely photography.

À la vie, à la modeJoanna is a French expat living in Montreal. She has a great eye for what is fresh, new and amazing.

Shut Up And Eat - Jason Lee always cracks me up. He is also like a mad scientist and will go “Deep Nerd” to share everything there is about a specific topic. His dim sum tutorials are amazing. Be warned : they WILL make you hungry!

Favourite food - care to share a recipe or a restaurant destination?

The food I crave the most is the delicious margherita pizza my friends Michele Forgione and Stefano Faita prepare at Pizzeria GEMA, a wonderful gem of a restaurant located in Montreal’s Little Italy. They also have the best frozen custard in town.

What are you working on next for your blog?

I just launched a Youtube channel last December. It’s been very beauty-centric so far, but I aim to do more food product reviews soon.

What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?

I come from a very musical family. My dad is a drum-playing architect, my mom teaches singing and my brother is a professional classical and opera signer. I love to sing, but it’s more of a «drunk at karaoke» situation for me.

What makes your blog unique?

I am not afraid to say what I think and to use humour to make a point. I am a firm believer in authenticity. You have to keep your own voice and not write what is expected, but what you feel like writing.

What’s your Favourite FBC Feature?

I love all the Resource posts about making a blog better. I am also a huge fan of the conference and I’m super happy that it’ll be in my hometown this year!
