Every Monday on her YouTube channel,  food trends expert Dana McCauley gives us the lowdown on the trends that are happening in the food world.  Stop by FBC on Tuesdays for a little extra insight from Dana on how you as a food blogger can use this information in your work!  This summer, Dana is running her Summer Flavour Forecast highlighting some of the flavour trends you can expect to see playing out this fall and into the new year!

We all know that local craft beers and artisan imported beers are on trend and a big part of the food and drink scene right now; but, did you know that our love of beer is so great that beer is becoming a flavour for foods? From lollies to potato chips, it seems that a thirst for beer flavour is going to be highly influential in the coming months (which is why they were chosen as the subject of video number two in the Food Trends TV’s Mid-year Flavour Forecast).

Will this trend last? I’m not convinced. Many of the foods I’ve tried that are beer flavoured weren’t that appealing to me. As a result, I predict that traditional recipes such as British beef and ale stew or barbecue sauces spiked with beer will prevail for the long term. But, I think beer flavoured jelly beans are likely to be just a 2015 stocking stuffer for your hoser brother or hard to buy for uncle.
