Have you adjusted to Daylight Savings Time yet? If we know one thing, all our FBC Members are rejoicing at the prospect of extra daylight for all their food photography!
Let's get on with the news this week and welcome oh so many new members!
The Taste Canada Food Writing Awards - Best Blog Post
If you haven't already heard (and we hope you have!), Taste Canada, The Food Writing Awards, has introduced the inaugural Food Blog Category: Best Post Award. We just want to remind you that the last day to enter your best food blog post is coming soon - March 20th. There is a category for both English and French posts. All the details you need to enter can be found in this article. Remember, the award is for the best blog post, not an overall blog award. So comb through your 2014 archives and submit your very best food post!
Grand Master "Souper" Bee
Congratulations to FBC member Getty Stewart from GettyStewart.com for being crowned Grand Master Souper Bee at a competition organized by fellow FBC Member, Shel Zolkewich in Winnipeg. Eight local food bloggers gathered for a soup making show down and Getty's lightened up Chicken Corn Chowder took top honors at the event held to raise awareness of Soup Bee, a non-profit social enterprise that provides supportive employment and sells soup subscriptions.
Meet Chatelaine's New Kitchen Apprentice (she's an FBC Member!)
Many of you already know FBC Member Louisa Clements of the blog, Living Lou. But did you also know she has just joined the food team at Chatelaine Magazine as their new Kitchen Apprentice? Chatelaine and Ontario's Metro grocery chain have teamed up to help promote local food, with Louisa showing us all the tips and tricks she's been learning in the Chatelaine test kitchen! You'll be seeing Louisa in the print, on-line and in fun videos like this one learning how to use beets. Congrats Louisa - we knew you were a star!
