Urban Spoon Paid Blogging Opportunity (National)
Urban Spoon currently has two paid openings available for blog writers to "work with their Social Marketing team to develop unique and engaging content for the Urban Spoon company blog that will appeal to a national and international audience". If this is an opportunity that interests you, you can view the entire posting in our Members Only area. You must, of course, have a passion for dining, restaurants and food culture (now who around here might have those things....hmmm... ;-))
Feast of Fields Exclusive Giveaway
We have a great opportunity for anyone who will be in Ontario on September 9th: a chance for one lucky member to win TWO media/VIP passes to Feast of Fields, Canada's longest running organic event in Canada. Celebrity Chefs Michael Smith, Emerie Brine, and Suman Roy, among others, will be in attendance. Visit our Members Only post for more information (you must be logged in) on how to win!
CSS & HTML and Ladies Learning Code
While it's not necessary to be fluent in HTML and CSS as a blogger, it certainly helps! Learning a little HTML and CSS can help you make your blog look a little more unique, make it user friendly and help your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Simon Fraser University's Continuing Studies Department ran two sold out one day workshops this week on just this, taught by the awesome Ladies Learning Code Organization. And my source at the SFU Continuing Studies informed me on Friday that the Ladies would be back on September 22 with another full day workshop. Tickets are $50 (which is a bargain for a workshop of this kind and are limited to 40 attendees. Student to instructor ratio is 4 to 1 so you'll get lots of help and lunch and refreshments are included. Keep an eye on the SFU CS website for more info and check out the Ladies Learning Code site for more events across the country.
