Why did you start your blog?

I have always loved baking, and my husband loves photography.  It was a natural fit for us!

How did you decide on your blog name? 

My husband Shane and I came up with the name together. It's actually our initials 🙂

What do you blog about? 

I blog about any sweet desserts, dishes or snack ideas.  I share recipes and food traditions that have been passed down to me.  I like to make these desserts with my own twist too.  I want others to try new things in the kitchen and to see that really, layer cakes ain't so scary.

What post on your blog most encapsulates you?

That's a tough question, because I hope each post encapsulates me!  These Heart Shaped Sprinkle Cookies might be one of the best posts that truly speaks about my foodie heart.  Simply because most of my very best memories or feelings of happiness have a food connection.  My mom gave of her time in the kitchen, making treats to show us that she loved us.  I now do the same for my family and friends.

Which post do you wish received more love and why?

This Salty Walnut Chocolate Pie didn't do as well as I thought traffic wise. This is hands down my favourite pie now!  The combination is insanely good, and I thought it would be more popular than it has been.

These Mini Wild Blueberry and Cream Cheese Trifles have had incredible success.  Funny thing is, that I took these pictures, not my husband, which is rare. It was in the launch issue of Taste of Home Canada. How awesome is that?!  A definite highlight of my blogging so far.

What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger? 

I really find staying on top of all of the social media a huge challenge.  I also work full time, so I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to reach all of the readers I should be reaching!

Share a couple of your favourite food blogs to read. Why do you like them?

Pastry Affair is a long time favourite for me.  I love her writing style and recipes and the photography is stunning!  We both work in Education and blog about our love of baking, so I kind of feel a connection with her.

Angela over at Oh She Glows is inspiring.  I eat a LOT of her recipes!  I'm sure people are surprised that I actually try to eat fairly healthy most of the time, even though I will snarf down a bowl icing without feeling too guilty.

Favourite food - care to share a recipe or a restaurant destination?

My favourite food is currently Indian Cuisine, with lots of heat too!

What are you working on next for your blog? 

I'm working on delicious, no churn, ice cream flavours for spring and I just finished up this post about Ugly Maple Syrup Pie, which you can find here.  And it's true, it's ugly!

What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?

I work in Education full time, with the most amazing Special Needs students. I'm a coffee snob and a total beach bum too.  I'm also pretty grateful for the opportunities I have been afforded in this life.

What makes your blog unique?

I don't think it's super unique, baking blogs are a dime a dozen.  But it's pretty genuine.  This is all me in here.  Ugly Pie and all.

What part of the FBC site do you find most useful?

The Resource Pages are so useful for me.  There is so much to know!  When I have a question about what the best course of action is for my blog, that's the first spot I look for information.
