If you're a food blogger and living a part of your life online, what I'm about to say won't come as much of a surpise. We read about each others lives, we tweet back and forth on a daily and we can even see what is for dinner as it's simmering on the stove. So, it's with great pleasure to announce that my virtual friend Dara of Cookin' Canuck is this week's featured blogger.

Dara is a Canadian, who was born out in Eastern Canada but grew up in Vancouver and now resides in Utah with her family. One glance at Dara's site and you'll see that she is the ultimate home cook and wonderful photographer, which makes for a pretty great combination. She's got something for every desire and occasion, be it appetizers, drinks, breads, soups, breakfast, salads, candy, frozen desserts...you get the picture.

As talented as Dara is in the kitchen, what strikes me is the respect and admiration she has within the food blogging community. That comes with a lot of hard work, kindess and it shows. She's a regular contributor to Tasty Kitchen, a recepient of Saveur's Sites We Love and just an all-around good Canadian-American gal!

Dara was in the holiday spirit in December with Chocolate Nutella Fudge with Sea Salt and keeping her sense of humor as she painted a picture of spanx and skinny jeans. However, now Dara is all business and saying goodbye to some of that butter and sugar she consumed in 2011.

Judging from her 2012 menu, there is still some serious eating happening in Utah. Eating healthy and smartly doesn't mean skimping on flavour, this rice noodle salad with an endive shrimp soy ginger dressing and about 50 other recipes is the proof!

So go say hi to Dara, get some inspiration to lose those butter pounds and remind her that "favourite" is spelled with a "u", eh?

Thanks so much for the feature, my friends. While I have lived in the U.S. for awhile now, I will always be a Canadian to my very core. I’m so proud to be featured here, along with so many other great Canadian bloggers.
