Name: Stephanie Le
Blog name and URL: I am a Food Blog
Where were you born? Edmonton, Alberta
Where are you living now? I call Vancouver home.
Why did you start your blog?
It's not terribly exciting, but I started I am a Food Blog because I love food and photography. I get a lot of inspiration from eating out and after hearing me say, “I could make this at home,” for the umpteenth time, Mike, my husband, challenged me to do it.
How did you decide on your blog name?
Originally I wanted to call my blog This is a Food Blog, but it was taken, so I am a Food Blog was born. I actually am quite fond of it as I have a tendency to personify inanimate objects, so it makes sense to me that my food blog declares that she is, in fact, a food blog.
What do you blog about?
I blog recipes that I cook for my family and friends. Sometimes they're original recipes but I also love making other blogger's recipes as well.
What post are you most proud of and why?
It's hard to decide on one that I'm most proud of, but I am quite fond of my spring roll recipe because of the story I wrote to go along with the recipe.
Which post do you wish received more love and why?
Probably bacon wrapped yaki mochi just because they are an incredibly delicious combination of chewy and crisp, smoky and savoury. I always order yaki mochi when I'm out for yakitori - it's a favourite of mine!
Which post’s success surprised you and why?
The paella post is quite popular, as well as controversial, which surprised me. There are a lot of passionate people out there who think a certain dish should be only one way. I'm pretty much the polar opposite: open to experimentation and crazy food mash-ups.
What is one (non-kitchen) gadget you can’t live without?
My iPhone and my camera. I use my phone to take a ton of pictures throughout the day and my camera is one of the most non-kitchen items used in my kitchen!
What is one kitchen gadget you can’t live without?
I don't know if you'd call it a kitchen gadget, but I'm very particular about my knives. Nothing beats a sharp knife!
Favourite food, care to share a recipe?
I have so many favourite foods it would be hard to choose just one. I'm partial to noodles, eggs and potatoes, in all of their various forms.
What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?
I have a cookbook coming out soon! It's called Easy Gourmet and is going to be released in September. I am over-the-moon excited!
