Fresh spring peas... there is nothing like them. They're perfection. Sweet and juicy the way each little pea pops with flavour in your mouth. It's a taste that cannot be replicated with canned or frozen peas - no matter if those canned or frozen peas come from the store or your own back garden.
While peas are delicious all year round, they are truly one of those spring ingredients, along with asparagus, radishes, chives and early spring greens that need to be indulged in when they're fresh off the vine and in season. The flavour is second to none. Team them up with a few other simple ingredients that are in their prime and you will have a dish that surpasses expectations.
We love partnering fresh spring peas the best parmesan or proscuitto we can find. A splash of lemon juice can add a brightness while a drizzle of olive oil can help pull it together with a fresh pasta. Feta cheese, almonds, mint and spring garlic all pair up nicely with peas as you'll see in many of these dishes.
And can we talk protein here for a minute? Peas contain 4g of protein in a 1/2 cup serving and they're also full of fibre along with some other serious nutritional benefits. So these little flavour packets are also pretty good for you!
