brought to you by Janes Family Foods
Before we get on to this week's news, we're going to take a minute to have a collective "pat on the back". We welcomed our 400th Member last week and by the end of the week we had climbed up to 407. This week also marks our 6 month anniversary. 400 members in 6 months... who knew?? A great big thank you to all of you who have joined and participated and cheered the FBC on - we have a tremendous group of members. You guys rock it!
Ok, group hug now over... let's get on with the goods! LOL.
The Homies
Last week we mentioned The Homie awards and Kris from Munchin with Munchkin, who was nominated in all three food blog categories. Well Kris took home the honors for Best Recipe Blog. Congrats Kris - keep doing us proud from Texas!
Top Chef Canada - Season Two
Another member shout out this week to our own Dan Clapson from Dan's Good Side. Dan has been signed on by Food Network Canada to produce 13 online, interactive pieces for Top Chef Canada this season. He'll be recreating the fan voted favourite dish of the week at home in his own kitchen. How well will he fare? Well you'll just have to tune in to the Top Chef Canada website to find out each week! Congrats to Dan - we know he'll do a great job!
Oxfam Canada - Female Food Heroes
As part of their recognition of International Women's Day last week, and World Food Day in October, Oxfam Canada is celebrating Female Food Heroes around the world. These are women working to build a movement for good food - food that is grown well and shared fairly. Oxfam wants to collect these stories and they are looking to you to share your Female Food Heroes to their project. You have until October 16, World Food Day, to get your story in. You can see some of the truly inspiring stories they have already collected on the site from all over the world and here in Canada.
366 Photo A Day Project
Our ranks on the FBC Photo a Day project seem to be dwindling! Don't let a few missed days discourage you - you can pop back in and get going again any time. And if you've always wanted to join a 365 project (they do wonders for your photography - I can attest to that!) you can still join the group over on Flickr. It's a project you can start any time.
Welcome the Tiniest Member of the FBC Family
Congratulations to Aimee from Simple Bites on the long anticipated arrival of her baby daughter last week. Congratulations to the Bourque family on their newest arrival! We're glad to hear everyone is doing well.

So much great news! Congrats to those talented bloggers and I can’t wait to tune into Dan’s new feature
Thanks for the shout-out, FBC friends! We’re certainly smitten with our little girl.
Thanks for the mention! I’m scared to recreate my first TCC dish this week! Looks like it’s going to be the Black Cod one.
I will do my best not to let you guys down 😉
